 | Budget Proposals Related to Women's Health | | Released on 7/9/07, the Assembly Republican Caucus Budget Package includes proposals to:
- Delete the increased funding to support community health centers.
- Delete monies provided for colposcopic examinations.
- Delete the funding increase for breast cancer and cervical cancer screening services under the Wisconsin well-woman program.
- Delete the family planning demonstration project.
- Reduce funding for the state's HIV/AIDS program.
- Delete one-time funding for an infant mortality project in Racine County.
- Require DHFS to apply annually for federal abstinence education funds from the Title V State Abstinence Education Grant Program.
- Modify the state's family planning program (otherwise known as implementing a state gag rule). |

 | Family Planning Funding in the Budget In his 2008-09 proposed budget Governor Doyle allocated state funds for family planning services in Wisconsin. Approximately 300,500 low-income women in Wisconsin need access to publicly-funded family planning services. Only about one-half of these women are receiving these services because of unavailability. |
